About K Wave in Sri Lanka

Popularity of Korean Dramas is sky rocketing in Sri Lanka as the dubbed and subbed versions are aired in local television channels.

Full House was the first Korean Drama to be aired on a Sri Lankan TV channel (ITN)and It caught the hearts of the Sri Lankans.
Later on SLRC aired the Korean Drama Jewel in the Palace as “Sujatha Diyani” which was aired successfully in many other countries. The character “Changumi” (jang – geum seo) that comes in this historical drama is loved by many Sri Lankans regardless of the age.

The number of the fans of the Hallyu wave , in other word, fans of the korean wave is also increasing day by day.

The Korean Embassy of Sri Lanka plays a major role in promoting the Korean Culture within Sri Lanka.

Why does Korea not accept us srilankans to k pop groups??? There are gossip about Indians in korean companies getting ready to debut..we should also fight for this chance.if I had a chance I would have done anything I could.

    • Hey, thank you for the comment and interest 🙂

Why don’t you participate in the Auditions for the world kpop festival ? It happens every July in Sri Lanka. When they are calling for applications, it will be updated on this site. It could be a good initiative as there is a huge competition for joining KPOP bands.
